Here's what I think we need, could be per-planet....But should also be a global function:

"Do not auto-upgrade planetary improvements that require:
  [Checkbox] Arnor Spice
  [Checkbox] Thalium
  [Checkbox]  Etc...
"

Problem is that in some games, you just don't have access to all resources.  I have had times where I managed to trade for a few precious Arnor Spice, and then, because I researched a Moral tech....the armor spice got used to upgrade Meditation Centers....before i could use them to promote my scientists.

I think on some spices we need more improvements.

Agreed! We also need a checkbox on any repeatable project for repeat or do not repeat. A repeatable project shouldn't have special priority in the build queue (so if upgrades come along, they build) but should cycle to the bottom of the queue.

This goes for repeatable quests in shipyards too.

I would like to be able to shut repeays off globally. Wjy this was requested just baffles me.

on Jul 25, 2017

Well, I can understand why. It's just some projects should never repeat (garrison, the shipyard citizen one) while others you'll almost always want to repeat (wealth/research/population).

I do not like auto-repeat projects. I found it a big improvment when they removed the eternal projects since most of the time you activate them because there is nothing else to build right now. Then you research a new tech, a new improvement comes along, and now you have to manually check your 50 planets with neverending projects whether you should build that improvement or not. When there are no auto-repeat projects you are automatically reminded from time to time to check your planets.

So I strongly agree there should be an option to auto-repeat or not.

Apart from that I would be fine with the long and often requested function to globally turn off auto updates of improvement. The fine grained control the OP wishes would be nice but is nothing I personally could not live with.

the worst of it is the garrisons project.  First I have to make ships with legions, more than I think I want, then I set planets to garrison, then create legion, in a loop.  Or wait until I have enough garrisons, and then go through just enough planets to use them up, so they won't repeat.  And then keep looking at planets so I don't mess it up.

I hate auto-repeats (unless I want the option to do so manually on a decision-basis)

Please StarDock stop the default auto updates and the repeat garrisons. this is by far the most annoying features in the game

I hope we can auto repeat those again soon. It was so good to just set all planets to wealth. That also lets me know that a planet is done with whatever i wanted it to do and does something useful while im busy on other stuff.

I don't like auto repeat. That's why I removed them from Crusade.

Its just QoL tho. Why make players go to each planet and press the button for the same task over and over every few turns? Auto repeat would just save time. Thx for great game tho.

It's QoL to not have auto-repeat (see my post above why)

So again best would be the possibility for the players to decide themselves what they want to do.

Thats how it used to be, duh. And it is QoL because you dont have to do it manually all the time. No one said anything about it being the default.
